Blast from the Past.

I was over on The Weather Channel's site, looking at a couple of their recent photo galleries. One was abandoned cities, the other, abandoned amusement parks.

That got me thinking about a favorite childhood place called DandeLion Park in Muskego, WI.

When I was a kid, at the end of each school year, there was a party thrown at the park and everyone went.

My cousin Jonathan almost made me throw up by convincing me to go on the Rock-o-Plane then rocking and turning the car over constantly. Hated that thing.

On the page I found there was actual movie footage. The first one was of the roller coaster known as the Tail Spin. I heard it said that when it existed, it was the largest wooden roller coaster in the country.

The second movie looks like it was taken before my time, possibly in the late 50s or early 60s.

I found out they closed and demolished it. Such a shame, too. The carousel alone was a collector's item. The site said the coaster was broken up and sold for firewood.

I guess things like that just weren't appreciated.

UPDATE: Found out what happened to the carousel:

Also, I just had to include this -
